About Sanat Dasgupta

Sanat Dasgupta was Born In Rewa, Central India. He started his film career at a very early age. After the success of his first Documentary film "HUNGRY AUTUMN" as co-producer and associate director, which won international recognition from Germany in 1978,he has never looked back. He holds the distinction of working with some of the legends of Indian cinema starting from UTTAM KUMAR, SOUMITRA CHATTERJEE, KAMAL HASSAN, SUPRIYA DEVI, RUPA GANGULI, GOUTAM GHOSH to name s few. As a very talented producer and director he has won praise from them who hold him in a very high esteem.With a very immaculate vision of judging cinema, he can direct a movie with his theoretical and technical expertise. A very gifted writer as well,he pens the script and then his high quality of direction takes centre stage. He shares the opportunity of participating in prestigious world film festivals like KARLOVY VARY, CAIRO, MONTREAL etc. A winner of 5 National and 2 International Awards, today he is one of the noted names in the international film industry. He has participated in international film seminars and was an ex-faculty National Institute of Film and Fine Arts, Kolkata. He is also an empanelled film maker of the  "GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL" and "GOVERNMENT OF INDIA" for the last forty years.
